The little things we do can make a big difference.

I believe that we all have the ability to make a difference in other peoples lives if we really look for them. When we do those things we will always be rewarded in ways we can never imagine.

Do you want to do some little things that will effect others and give you some real pleasure.  Make you feel better without others really knowing what your doing.  Here are a few examples:

Have you heard of: Random Act Of Kindness Week? As your sitting in a restaurant, look around, pick somebody out and simply pick up their tab.  You will more than likely leave them speechless, but later you will have a great feeling about it.

Melisa and I was sitting in a Cracker Barrel a while back and she reached over and asked a couple for their bill.  My wife explained that we simply like to do this about once a month and tonight was their night.  They were speechless than explained to us that it was their anniversary and the lady started to cry.  What a great feeling!

Cedar PointA year or so ago a young lady came up to me at church.  She asked if I remembered who she was.  She went on to say that 20 years ago she was able to attend an Amusement park with the youth group when Melisa and I paid her way.  I had totally forgot about it.  But she had never forgotten the event.

What is it that you can do for somebody else that may make a BIG Difference in their life without expecting anything in return. Who is that one person that you can reach out to that you haven’t seen in some time. Take the time this day, this week or this month to do something for just one person and you to will seem to have the Midas Touch.

Make it a Great Day!

PS: Do a act of kindness now and share, retweet and leave me a comment on this post!  :-)

    Bill,
This is truly a gift. It sounds as though it has paid you many happy returns along the way. It’s a great reminder that I have forgotten about for some time. I have had the fortune of having people do unexpected acts of kindness to me and when this has occurred it came at a time when I really could use it. I’ve also been on the other side of the coin and have given as well. One of my favorite things to do is to do something for someone without them know who it came from. It’s even more fun if you can see it happening before your eyes. Oh to be the “fly on the wall”…

    Thanks Bill.

Bill – I love this post and idea. You do such nice things for people everyday and you probably don’t even realize half of them. I can attest because you have helped me as well:) You have inspired me to reach out and give someone else the surprise of a random act of kindness!

Your random acts of kindness are a great form of paying forward. :) How awesome to meet someone years later who you helped out. I’ll bet you never knew the difference or impact you made on her life.

You are such great go-givers. Keep on truckin’, Bill!

What a great post. “Do unto others” has always been my motto. The last random act I can think of was recently my husband and I were traveling and stopped for breakfast at a diner. In walks several very tall marines that sat at the counter. We told our waitress we wanted to pay for their breakfast. She was in shock and told us “those boys eat a lot!” We had our credit card, what did we care?

When they finished eating they each came over to us, gave us a salute and shook our hands. It was such an honor and experience I never will forget.

I’m a stickler for our youngsters in the service. I even have an army reserve kid that parks in one of my driveways because he could’t afford to pay for parking at Cornell College. He wanted to give us money, but it is so pleasurable to give to these kids. Of course we didn’t charge him a dime.

So be kind to the people you meet. Do unto others because that is where you receive grace.

Bill…this is absolutely wonderful. It is a testament to the care that God has for us even in the seemingly small areas of our lives. He takes care of the flowers and the birds and sometimes a dinner check through you and your wife. I love this…thanks for sharing!

    Hi Bill,

I love the random acts of kindness concept, I love the feeling of helping someone when they’re not expecting it. What you did for the lady at the theme park will probably stick with her forever and no doubt she’d be sharing her story with her friends.

I live in a small town of about 22 000 people and recently in the “Letters to the Editor” was a letter thanking the random man who had paid for their dinner. There were four people at the table, two of which had traveled an hour to meet their friends and one with a disability. So to have their dinner together would have been quite special but for someone to pay for their tab before leaving was even better.

    Love it, thanks Bill.

    Cheers, Lynn

That is so cool! It is really great to see it happen. I have an elderly couple that lives next door to us. When we get a heavy snow fall, I enjoy shoveling his walk. Some day I know I will have my day. It always comes back sooner or later. For me I hope that part is later, since I enjoy doing it.

Wow! Bill thanks so much for the reminder. I have done things like this for a long time but not lately! Now that I think about it, it is something that I have missed but wasn’t conscious of exactly what I was missing.

I used to go through a particular drive through for their great iced tea and often would ask the person at the window about what the next person’s order was. Frequently I paid their bill and it made me feel great.

Thanks again for the wonderful post and reminder.

    Hi Bill,
My husband also shovels the snow for a woman who lives across the street. He husband died a few years ago and we help her as much as we can. There is nothing like the feeling of helping others. When ever we go to the mall, public place, restaurant, I always go out of my way to thank the “bus” boy cleaning off the dirty dishes from our table, or the woman sweeping the floor at the mall, or the janitor, nurses aide, or cafeteria worker… I know there are many people in what appears to be “thankless” jobs and are seldom appreciated. I say “thank you” and boy do there faces light up! There are many ways to appreciate others and thank you Bill, for sharing yours. I’ll have to do that too …

Kindness is a very potent act. When I act unexpectedly, I know that person will remember it for many years to come, but what’s better, it will influence them in their behavior towards others I will never meet. What’s best is the ego that started it all (me) seems to gradually fade and spread into a pleasurable beneficence. Perhaps it will seem that way to you, too, dear reader.

    Juliette,

What an amazing feeling you get when you do something for no other reason than pure kindness. We actually went the entire year doing this at least 1 time a month. It’s great to see expressions on peoples faces when the waiter / waitress says it has been taken care of.
